Typhoon In Philippines Update

Typhoon Parma narrowly missed the already flooded city of Manila, when it suddenly veered to the north last week. Rather than continuing on its course, the storm roared back and forth across the north for days. On last Thursday (Oct 8) alone, it dumped 27 inches of rain, which is more than that area usually sees in a month. The heavy rains caused hundreds of deaths because of flooding and mudslides. By the grace of God, we have not received any reports of believers being hurt in the storm, although many churches and homes were completely submerged by the rising waters.

Brother Jeremiah Villagracia (VGR Office Manager in Philippines) has tirelessly worked to deliver food and supplies to the believers in Metro Manila, and he is now turning his sights to the believers in the north, who seem to have suffered even more than those in Manila. The following is his most recent report.

The typhoon that veered away from hitting Metro Manila that's already stricken by the last typhoon, has pummeled the Northern Luzon provinces, especially the provinces of Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija and Benguet. These provinces were in virtual ocean for two days. The rains have caused landslides that resulted to 269 people dead to date. It was reported that this thing has not happened in Pangasinan in many years and the typhoon there has almost replicated everything that had happened recently in Metro Manila. There are 38 Message churches in Pangasinan, 10 in Benguet, and about 20 in Nueva Ecija. Most of these churches, especially in Pangasinan, were submerged in floodwaters and so are the houses of many believers there. We've received text Messages from pastors in these areas asking for help from Voice of God Recordings.

On behalf of the believers in these areas, I appeal again to the Saints there for their prayers. Our affected brothers and sisters in these areas practically have nothing and no one to go to for help. The government's resources are spread so thinly because of the similar devastation of the last typhoon that had happened in Metro Manila, and if there be any government help, it might be too late.

We will soon go and visit these churches asap, to further assess the situation of the churches and the believers there, although there are some areas that are not yet passable because of the floods and landslides. Due of the vastness of the area, we could not do it ourselves, hence this would require us to get all the ministers together, if the Lord wills, to get everyone involved in a relief operation for all the affected believers. If the Lord wills, we intend to meet with these ministers for this purpose as soon as we can.

Thank you and God bless you.
Bro. Jeremiah
