Our Present Help

We received this testimony from a sister who was going through some trials with her children. She found out that the Lord is more than willing to give us what we ask for, and sometimes, a little more than we asked for.

A few weeks ago, my three-year old fell in his grandparents’ camper and hurt his arm. When all the crying calmed down, I asked him where it hurt. He kept saying "in the bone," always pointing to the same spot. We weren't too sure on how injured he was, but after watching him closely, we noticed he wasn't using his arm at all. We then decided to bring him to the emergency room where we got the news that his arm was broken.

The doctors there put on a temporary cast in case of swelling and told us to make an appointment with the orthopedic specialist. Two days later he had the temporary cast removed and a fiberglass one put on. I made two appointments that day, one for 10 days later when his arm will be x-rayed through the cast to check the healing process, and the second appointment was for the three-week mark where his cast will be removed.

Ten days after breaking his arm, he was hit in the back of his head with a kid’s garden hoe by his sister. Talk about blood! It had already run about three inches down from the wound, down my pinky, and off my wrist. Rushing into the house, I grabbed a wad of paper towels, applied pressure, and prayed! I simply just asked for the Lord to stop the bleeding and close the wound. I didn't know how long I was supposed to hold pressure, but I had to check his head to see what kind of situation I had on my hands, and whether or not I did, in fact, need to take him to the hospital so soon after breaking his arm.

While slowly removing the towel from his head I saw that every ounce of blood was absorbed into it, and to my amazement, had stop bleeding instantly! I watched and watched in shock, knowing that head wounds are bleeders. I even tried putting on a butterfly stitch "just incase," but it wouldn't stick to his head. I think the Lord was trying to tell me He was in charge! By the afternoon the cut had already scabbed over!

Two days after this happened, we went to the appointment for Oliver's arm to be re-x-rayed. When we walked into the exam room there was a saw on the table to cut off his cast. I looked at the nurse strange, explaining we were told his arm would be X-rayed through the cast. I even asked her, "Isn't it too soon to be taking it off?"

She checked with the doctor and came back, saying it would be removed for the X-ray and if he needed another one they would simply recast it. While back in the room waiting for the results from his X-ray I couldn't kept but thinking how weird it was they had already taken the cast off. It had only been 12 days since he broke his arm. Last summer, my daughter, who also was three at the time, broke her arm and it was casted for 4.5 weeks!

Just a short while later the doctor walks in saying nothing else needed to be done. His little arm was completely healed! The nurse even checked the X-ray multiple times, comparing it to the first one the hospital took and saying how nice it is to be so young and how fast little ones heal. I don't think she really believed it either.

When I got into the car I called my husband and told him the great news. He even said "Already? Well, maybe when you prayed for his head the Lord healed his arm also!" Then it hit me, that's EXACTLY what happened. I couldn't see what God was doing until it was already done. That this entire ordeal, from the day he broke his arm till the day he got hit on the head, the Lord knew I'd have a testimony to tell.

All I know is our God truly is there in a time of need, instantly healing things we ask for and even the things we don't. Now, I know why they took his cast off so soon when I was told he would be in it for three weeks. The Lord had HIS plan all along!
