Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Luke 2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David)
To the natural eye, the great capital of Jerusalem or the ancient walled city of Jericho would have been a better place for the Messiah to be born. Scholars might have predicted His birth in Zion at the top of the mountain, or the holy city of Gilgal. But God chose the little town of Bethlehem to be the birthplace of His only begotten Son. The love story begins in the Book of Joshua, and the romance between Salma and Rahab. Years later, Ruth and Boaz meet in the fields surrounding that blessed little town. We can plainly see the prophet Micah’s words as Brother Branham takes us through Joshua and Ruth, down the lineage of King David, to the birth of our Lord Jesus and beyond in this excerpt from the sermon, Why Little Bethlehem.
