The death toll continues to rise from the magnitude 7.9
earthquake that shook central China on May 12. Now there are a reported
69,000 dead, and that number is expected to rise. By God’s grace, we know of
no believers that were killed or injured in the quake. The following is a
report from a believer in China who drew faith from the Message during this
frightening experience.
Dear Brother P,
Many thanks for your care and concern about our safety since the
earthquake took place. Praise the Lord, all brethren and sisters of our
church in this city passed through the earthquake by faith, without any
death or injury.
Our city is about 380 kilometers (240 miles) away from the epicenter.
Yesterday, about 2:30 p.m., our family was having our lunch when we
suddenly felt the building start shaking. The floor was wobbling like a
boat in a storm. I knew it was an earthquake. I told my family to stop
eating and to immediately go downstairs from the seventh story, where we
live. As we went down the stairs, we cried out "Lord Jesus save us."
Praise the Lord that my whole family, including my grandma of 102 years
old, got down to the street safely.
Then I took out my cell phone and started to call the brethren and
sisters of our church, but the mobile communication system was broken
until 5:00 p.m. All brethren and sisters of our church and their
families are safe. They told me when the earthquake took place, none of
them was panicky. And when they got onto the street, they all kneeled
down to pray. They immediately recalled Brother Branham’s sermon,
"Recognize Your Day And It’s Message," which we had studied the week
before.
Our city had also experienced flooding in the summer of 2003 and the
summer of 2004. During those times, buses were replaced by boats in our
city and some 200 people died. However, our church never stopped our
regular meetings during that time. Likewise, we believe we won’t stop
our regular meetings because of this earthquake. For when disaster
comes, God is our refuge. There shall no evil befall us, neither shall
any plague come nigh our dwelling. (Psalms 91)
Dear Brother P, you asked if we need any help for food or supplies.
No. We don’t need that. We just need more of Brother Branham’s books and
tapes.
Please convey our gratitude and greetings to all saints of your
church.
God bless you all.
Brother L
