Brother Des Defortier, VGR Office Manager for Mozambique, is back on the road delivering Message material to the believers in Mozambique. Here is the first report of his trip:
Brother Saidi, VGR Office Manager in Malawi, received word that another
church accepted the Message in a similar way. He recently visited that church
to encourage them and tell them that VGR is here to serve them. Many were
baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, including the village leader.
Here is his report:
After weeks of preparation, the VGR Mozambique team left Nelspruit South Africa in the early hours of the morning sporting Mozambique and South African flags on their vehicles. This was done in an attempt to minimize the "anti-South Africa-feelings" which emanated from the recent xenophobic killings in South Africa, where many Mozambicans lost their lives. Mozambican militia tried to stop the VGR "white horse and carriage" on at least four occasions on this trip, but whenever the flags were seen, we were waived on to go about our Father's business, much to the delight of the VGR team.
Earlier that day, at the Komatipoort/Resano Garcia border post with Mozambique some 100 kilometers away from Nelspruit, the new (fully loaded) VIWA trailer developed a temporary technical problem with its back set of leaf springs. A design error in construction resulted in the leaf springs jumping out of the back channel. 'Quick Fit', a local Komatipoort motor company, agreed to help the VGR team (free of charge) by placing the leaf springs back into position, whereupon it was agreed to take the trailer back to the manufacturers for modifications. The VGR team continued onto Maputo that day to fulfill their task of handing out the first Lighthouse allocations (in Portuguese) for 2008 in Mozambique. The border processes that day went like clockwork by the Grace of our Lord and the team arrived in Maputo at noon. By early evening, everything had been achieved as originally planned, much to the pleasure and joy of the VGR team.
One of the brothers also received five bags of good second-hand clothing for the poor families in his fellowship, collected from the believers in South Africa. The VGR Mozambique Distribution Office is also in the process of putting an "evangelical" allocation together for one of the young brothers in Brother Tsame's assembly who has been doing a lot of evangelical work in Southern Maputo in recent times. We aim to allocate this young Brother with a VGR donated bicycle and everything possible in terms of VGR material to enable him to reach as many souls as possible in the Portuguese, Zulu, and Tsonga languages.
And so the process will continue (the Lord willing and the Lord tarrying) until the VGR team in Mozambique have distributed another 138 Lighthouse packages throughout the whole country.
