My precious Brother Joseph,
You are one of those people that we should always say when we meet:
Hello, brother, thank you very much for everything.
And this is not only because you are the son of our so beloved prophet. It’s because you are so committed to make the prophet’s words –they are God’s Word – always present in our lives. With your work, you make our lives happier, with more meaning and more respect.
Yes, thank you brother Joseph for making our lives full of joy and also more united around the world with a sacred purpose. Thank you, sir!
I decided to write you this letter, just after I read the first Portuguese version of the Catch the Vision newspaper. I just loved it! First, I need to mention that I am a journalist in São Paulo, Brazil, where I attend the local Message church since 1976.
Because of my profession, I need to be up to date with all the currents events in my field – automotive. And this implies that I need to read many local and international newspapers and magazines. Besides that, I need to do a daily follow up on sites, radio and TV news.
My experience with journalism is that no news are news at all to the world if they are not bad news. Bad news is what catches the attention of the people. I heard many people say: why do they divulge only bad news in the media?
This is for a very simple reason. Because bad news is what most people want to buy. The media’s core business is not to inform. It’s to sell newspapers and magazines to millions of homes and newsstands. It’s to keep people watching television and be accessible to the propaganda and advertisings paid by companies that invest a lot of money to influence consumers to buy their products and services and ideas.
So, the main purpose of the media is to make money with the curiosity of the people, by catching their attention with strong and impacting headlines and stories.
In the first journalism classes, the students and future reporters get the following definition of “good” news:
• If a dog bites a man, this is no news. But if a man bites a dog, this is “good” news.
• A plane that leaves the airport and gets to its destiny is all right. A plane that fails to do that, is a “good” news.
So today’s media is full of “good news” to the world: tragedies, crime, fear, accidents, floods, earthquakes, warming climate, parents against children, children against parents, inflation, unemployment, financial crisis.
When we read this “good” news, we kind of get a burden on our shoulders and on our minds and on our hearts. They make us feel sad and worried, and many times, very stressed. They are only reporting stories of what the Devil is doing in the world.
But today, I read a different newspaper! The Catch The Vision publication. Oh. Glory to God! I started to read the many testimonies of what God is doing in the world. Simple and very courageous people are living great stories in all the different countries.
There are many true stories of sacrifice and real love. Real stories of people that are living for others. With the presence of the Supernatural. Just like the good and old true stories of the Bible.
I see many impacting pictures illustrating the pages. What impresses me most are the smiling faces of the children of God when they get their spiritual food – the books and tapes that the Voice of God sends to them in due time. It’s so hard to describe those faces. It looks like they are seeing with wonder the Lord walking on the troubled waters of today, again.
The Catch The Vision newspaper is the best in the world to me – it should be to every child of God. It’s as essential reading, as the Message books themselves. This newspaper is the only one made of real good news. Yes, sir!
When I read it, I got no burden on my shoulder. There is only a light burden on our hearts made of love for our dear brothers and sisters who are striving to live and to please God and to have the Holy Ghost in their hearts – “till we all meet again at Jesus feet.”
A good and wonderful headline is being lived and “written” everyday somewhere in the world where a Christian is today!
Thank you again, Brother Joseph, for having these stories published in the Catch The Vision newspaper. You are also the best editor of a newspaper for me! The Lord bless you!
