VGR Brothers in Malawi

Over the past few days, Brothers Ron Evans and Nathan Jones have been meeting with Brother Saidi (VGR Office manager in Malawi) about the work in that country. Of particular interest is the new office we are building in Blantyre in cooperation with the local Message churches, who are making great sacrifices to fund the construction.

The brothers also had a special treat when they were invited to the home of Brother John Katyale (the Tapeboy mentioned in the fall issue of CTV), where they received a wonderful report of the most recent tape meeting in northern Malawi. Once again, many were baptized because of the efforts of Brother John and a few of the local ministers.

The following is Brother Nathan’s report:

Tuesday Report

Today, we finally got the chance to meet Brother John again. At 9:00 AM, we left for his home, which is located in a rural area.

Brother John and cooperating ministers had held a meeting up in the northern part of Malawi, and 29 people were baptized this weekend as a result. Many pastors are very supportive of Brother John's efforts and lend him the cooperation, support and many of their members help in the meetings in various capacities, whether singing, or playing instruments, or simply going there to participate in the meeting.

When we arrived at his home, we were ushered into his living room, the outside wall covered with chairs. We realized that we were sitting in a home church. How welcoming it felt to be there!

Brother John was recently told by a Mozambican convert: If you bring me another message I will reject it, I will only accept that Voice.... Of course Brother John was smiling as he related the testimony.

Brother John thanked the people for providing him with the trailer, tent shelter for his equipment, and for the generator. One pastor mentioned that it is too small for the people, but grinned when we told him that we had sent a small tent awning to protect the equipment.

There were three pastors with Brother John at the meeting with us. The love for this Message shown through their faces and their testimonies of healings and conversions by playing the tapes. Truly they love this Message and support the tape ministry that Brother Branham mentions...."tape ministry is a worldwide thing."

Brother John sang a few songs for us with his musicians and choir; it was so precious that words cannot convey the love that we felt.

Brother John had one request, he said that it is three miles to walk to the river from his house, he would like one of those portable baptismal pools that the Durban office has!

Brother John was so very happy about the work, and testimonies of healings just bubbled from his lips. Recently a man with leukemia, who was receiving two liters of blood, went back to the hospital and was told that he did not need blood as his body had started producing blood again after prayer.

One man was healed after watching Brother Branham on video, he was not even prayed for.

Brother John said that his radio program, "Eternal Life," where he plays the tapes of Brother Branham, was found to be the program that reached the most people. So, the radio program gave him a free Wednesday night slot because it was so popular.

Brother John and his friends sang "til we meet again"....as we climbed into the car to leave.

We had a minister's meeting today with the Malawi minister's.

They were very upbeat, although they mentioned there were a few of them missing because two brothers were killed in car wrecks and the pastors were busy with the arrangements.

Brother Saidi opened the meeting with singing, "We'll work til Jesus Comes" as we all held hands and sang together, it was a very precious spirit of unity.

Brother Saidi introduced the meeting saying that it was informal and that after we spoke the pastors could ask whatever questions they wished.

Brother Ron spoke first and greeted the pastors for Brother Joseph.

I was next and told the pastors how much we appreciated them, that we were co-workers together and our job was to support them with material and pass the ammunition to those working on the front line in the missionary efforts.

Brother Gordon Tutani then spoke about the blessings that follow those that follow the teaching of the prophet. He quoted Jehoshaphat in Chronicles were he said "Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper."

He elaborated on the fact that the kings that followed the words of the prophets prospered and those that did not, like Saul, lost their kingdoms. He said that Brother Branham brought us the Message for this day.

One pastor said he played the Holy Ghost tapes for his congregation and followed exactly what the prophet said to do, and with tears in his voice, he said I saw 20 people receive the Holy Spirit, and although some could hardly read Chichewa, they spoke in perfect English and we understood them, just like the example at the day of Pentecost.

The meeting ended with singing “We'll work til Jesus Comes,” and Brother Ronald dismissing in prayer.

The brothers are now on their way to Lusaka, Zambia, where they will be meeting with Brother Ronnie Kapisha, VGR Office Manager in Zambia. Please keep them in your prayers.
