Brother Geremy Chengiah (pictured below) stepped into our office this morning after reading the sign post outside our office.
He came out of desperation, crying out for help, as he was destitute and broke. I asked him for contact details of any relatives, and he gave me his mother's number. I called her to verify some of the aspects of his story, and she provided some additional information relating to his troubled past.
I then returned to speak with him, and told him that there was no mistake in his coming to our office for help. We may not be able to help in the way he had envisioned, but we definitely have "Something" that will be of benefit to him.
We had quite a discussion and he began opening up to me, telling of how he took to shoplifting, lying, etc., in order to satisfy his craving for a variety of drugs including cocaine, heroin, and pharmaceutical drugs.
In 2010, he overdosed on a deadly mixture of heroin and pharmaceutical drugs, and was contemplating the same thing before entering our office this morning. Many of his friends had died from this concoction, and it could only be described as a miracle that he is still alive today.
I continued to share with him the Word of God, and the grace that can be found only in Christ Jesus. He was visibly moved and tears were flowing as we spoke about his life.
We didn't have any silver or gold to give this thirsting stranger, but such as we have, we freely gave unto him. He prayed and asked God to forgive him for all the wrongs in his past and thereafter I prayed with him also.
Earlier today, he accepted "God's Provided Way for This Day," and we baptized him in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We also gave him some "Spiritual Food in Due Season" in the form of a few sermon booklets. We shared with him how that God had sent a prophet to this city more than fifty years ago, who did many great exploits at the Greyville racecourse.
And today, by His grace, another miracle was done in the life of a stranger walking through the streets of Durban. The influence of this Message, the impact of this Voice, is still reaching souls in the uttermost parts of the earth.
I trust this testimony will be a blessing to you.
God bless,
VGR Durban Office
