Guyana

Guyana is geographically located on the Caribbean coast in the Northeast portion of South America. The climate is tropical and generally hot and humid, and the country's transportation system is fractured in and around the five regions. Most of the roads are unpaved and routine maintenance is often neglected. Finding continuous highways and bridges linking to the next stop is challenging to say the least.

Brother Paul Ross, VGR representative and the team traveled twenty hours from Georgetown to the remote jungles of western Guyana, into the villages of Toka and Rupunoa. The Guyana team report of saints standing in the Faith, healings being performed, and many testimonies of a resurrected Lord Jesus.

I visited the church at Toka village, in the company of Bro. Felix and his team (son Gideon, young Bro. Solomon, and returning Bro. Louis), leaving the capital of Georgetown on Tuesday and arriving after 20 hours on Wednesday.

We left on Thursday to visit the remote village of Rupunoa, a church that was started with the help of Bro. Felix and their church in Trinidad only about five years ago in an area that had no previous knowledge of this Message.

The church was found really grounded in the Message of the hour, playing the tapes in their weekly and Sunday services. They have solar panels in excellent condition, but they required a new battery to store charge. They also have a library, stocked and orderly (the best kept I've seen among the Amerindian villages) with Message books, Cub Corner magazines, and even two phones complete with microSD cards for lending!

They have been keenly following the work at VGR whenever they could hear of it, as they have no internet service in the village and have also expressed a need for some games and equipment to play with their youths in YF activities.

Back at Toka Village, we see a church that has really progressed as the tape ministry has taken a hold. They too have a lovely library, as Bro. Louis testified, all of which has been provided on missionary trips and material previously sent to Guyana by VGR. Once again, being very simple communities, they are also interested in equipment to play with their youth at YF events.

There are many surrounding villages which have never heard of the Message, and there are a few willing soldiers to make these witnessing trips, but a good vehicle and sponsorship is terribly needed.

Many wonderful testimonies of the effect of the tapes have been recorded. (We will post a few of those videos in an article later this week.)
