Looking In A Circle?

We cannot reason out God. God is never known by science, never is God known by—by mental powers. God is only known by faith. Knowledge will never get a man to God; knowledge takes him away from God.

60-0729 - "What It Takes To Overcome All Unbelief: Our Faith"
Rev. William Marrion Branham

There’s been a lot of excitement in the scientific community lately about a new theory of a round, rather than flat, universe (google ‘closed universe’ to see the various articles). However, this is old news for those of us who have been listening to Brother Branham’s tapes. A long time ago, he told us that the scientists would one day find that they are not seeing as far into space as they think they are.

Here’s a little background information.

Science is defined: “the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.”

Basically it means that science is trying to figure out what’s going on around us by gathering information and using that information to come to conclusions.

The problem is that science can only scratch the surface of all the knowledge that the universe has to offer. Yet, scientists use their tiny amount of information to come with some pretty outlandish conclusions. Then, after they prove their theories, they usually learn something new that changes everything they once thought. Remember the story Brother Branham tells about science proving that if a man would reach the terrific speed of 30 miles per hour, he’d leave the earth? Well, it looks like science is coming to another one of those moments, and this time, it’s at the very foundation of their thoughts about the origins of the universe.

To this point, physicist have “proven” that the universe is flat, and it is a result of something called “the big bang” which started about 14 billion years ago. Before the bang, they say the universe was “infinitely small.” We already have a problem with this theory. There is no infinity – or eternity – in science. Their theory already doesn’t make sense! How can something be infinitely small, or eternally there, if no mathematical models can truly go to infinity? (They really should include the Bible in their studies; it would help with that infinity/eternity issue)

Let’s continue on.

The big bang happened, and something (no one knows where that ‘something’ came from) produced something else, and all those new somethings produced more somethings, and then, a few hundred million years later, something produced cosmic light. Cosmic light lit up the cosmos so astronomers could see everything that was going on. Now that the light was switched on, they observed that the universe was flat, kind of like a frisbee. Remember Brother Branham saying that they think they’re looking into millions of years of light space? This is that light space. There’s all kinds of high-level physics and mathematical models involved in coming to that conclusion, but true to form, they’re starting to find out that they were a bit mistaken. (We already knew that.)

Recently, cosmologists have discovered that the universe may not be flat, but it could actually be round, like a ball. Not only could it be round, but they are now saying that if you travel in what seems like a straight line, “you'll loop around and end up right back where you started.” (quote from livescience.com/universe-may-be-curved.html)

Sound familiar? Here’s what the prophet said,

“And they're going to find out, someday, that they're not seeing a hundred and fifty million years of light-space either. They're going right around in a circle.”

Rev. William Marrion Branham

Hmmm. How did he know that way back in 1965?

The scientist is constantly correcting himself through his knowledge (or lack of knowledge). The prophet, on the other hand, simply says what God inspires him to say, and it remains... Forever. There are books in the Bible that are upwards of 4,000 years old, and they haven’t changed a word. Now that’s something we can believe!

The Christian’s evidence is far different than that of the scientist. Our evidence is faith (faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. -Hebrews 11:1) That same faith has found a cure for cancer – and every other disease for that matter (Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. -Psalm 103:2-3) Faith knows exactly where the universe came from (In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. -Gen 1:1) Faith knows that man did not evolve from some other form of life (God created man in his own image -Gen 1:27). And most of all, faith has found the very secret of life, and it is recorded in the most knowledgeable publication ever written (And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. -1 John 5:11-13)

If we really want to know the truth, then all we have to do is open the Bible. It explains creation to eternity, and everything in-between. The Bible, in its perfection, also promises that the very mystery of God would one day be revealed. We are living in that day. The only thing we have to do is believe.

Now, God is so wonderful. Standing at the big observatory not long ago, where you could take and look through that glass and see a hundred and twenty million years of light-space, then you could see the vastness of His universe. And you could think of… We look at this sun and think this is the only sun. There’s suns, and suns, and orbits, and suns, and planets, and suns beyond this till they rank in the millions, and God over all this universe sitting there governing it. Could you imagine Who God is? Could you draw any idea Who God is and what He is?

Once again, THAT'S SOMETHING WE CAN BELIEVE!
