Almost all of us know someone who either is in prison or has been there, so the prison ministry is dear to so many of our hearts. Great men like John the Baptist and the Apostle Paul spent time in prison, and the Bible even teaches us by visiting the prisoners, we are doing this service to the Lord Jesus Himself. Yes, the prison ministry is very important.
Every time we post a “Letters From Prisoners” article, we get a few questions about how to get Message material to loved ones in prison. Here are the answers to some of the frequently asked questions:
- Are the books free for the prisoners?
- Yes! The books we send out are free of charge.
- How can I send books to my friend/loved one in prison?
- Send us an email at vogr@branham.org, including the name, address, and inmate number. Or the inmate can requests books by writing to us.
- Do you have a plan that automatically sends books every month?
- No, inmates are often moved and books are not forwarded to them. Either the inmates or someone else needs to request material each time.
- How do the inmates know what is available?
- We include a book list in each package.

See, whenever someone said something about the Bible, I would immediately say, “I’ll listen to you if you tell me who was Melchisedec?” Of course nobody could say and most had never heard of him; then it all came crashing down. See, I asked for some books to read and the one you sent was, “Who Is This Melchisedec?” Well, I was stunned to say the least, and then I thought, this ought to be good. See, nobody knows Melchisedec. Well, I started reading and just looked up to heaven and cried, Thank You God, you are real, and I believe you! I can’t tell you the blessings you have sent me. The Chaplain here asked me if I read the Bible. I told him no sir; I’m just not smart enough to understand any of it. He said to me to try this book. I never read anything like that, and I understood what it said. He asked me if I enjoyed it, I said, “I sure did, I even cried and it had things in it about the Bible also.” He gave me an envelope, and said to mail this and they will send me more that will explain everything. So I am sending this to you, and I want to learn more about the Bible, and Jesus Christ.

I always knew there was a God. I mean you have to right? I was in and out of church, and then when I was on my own I just quit, nothing there. Well, you can guess I ended up in jail, and the first thing when I got my room, someone handed me a book and said, “Read this.” Well, it was the Church Ages and, well, this is different. I asked around, “Where did this come from, I never heard or thought anything like this.” Someone said, “Here try this one, and handed me the Seals.” It did not take me long to realize that God is not someone in the sky that you look up to, but a real live Being that is right here, now. Not a history book, wow.

I have been a prisoner in this institution for a little more than a month, and I still need two more years to finish my sentence. But, the Bible says that all things work out for them that love God, so I am believing that God will bless me while I am here. I want to become a better person for God and for my fellow man. I believe that God has forgiven me of my sins, and is offering me an opportunity to find Him.
