The Little Things

The Bible said that—that He knew the sparrows that fell into the street. And we're so glad to know that, that every little thing that we do, Jesus sees us do it. And He knows the objective and the motive that we have in it, and He will reward us.

One time He said, “Verily, I say unto you, if you give as much as a cup of cold water to one of these, you shall in no wise lose your reward.” The little things that we just forget… Don't forget, when you see a cripple on the street, poor, blind, and lame, or halt, instead of having an entertainment for somebody, help him. Jesus said, “I was sick and you didn't visit Me. I was in prison; you didn't visit Me. I was hungry and you didn't feed Me.”

60-0331 From That Time

This sister may not have been able to offer any physical help to her neighbor when he was having trouble pulling out a tree stump with his tractor, but she didn’t shy away from her responsibility to help. She gave him the most powerful force that God ever put in the hands of man: a sincere prayer before God.

Our prayers don’t have to always be for great things; they can be for the little things too. Let’s always remember to pray.

One morning, I heard a horrible noise outside. It was my distant neighbor on his John Deer tractor, trying to drag a tree trunk out of the ditch.

I looked out the front door and that tractor was straining so hard, it was spinning its wheels and popping its lid. It was making a terrible racket. After a while, he got down, unchained the tree trunk, and drove his tractor back to the house.

In a little bit, he came back with an old Dodge truck. He parked it half on the asphalt and half on the shoulder of the road, just like he did with the tractor. He got out of the truck and reconnected the chain to the trunk.

While he was doing it, I prayed and asked the Lord to let the Angels help him by lifting the weight of the trunk.

He got back in the truck and started to pull. The trunk came up without as much as leaving a scrape on the asphalt road. He pulled it off the road and into the pasture. While he was pulling it, it looked to me like it glided on the pasture until he stopped. The pasture didn’t even have a scrape. It was a marvelous thing to see!
