Brother Branham said, “We know it is true that God will meet a desperate soul. Now, we all know that. But it usually takes something to drive us into that, to that despair, to the desperation. It takes something to do it.”
There is not a more desperate group of people in the world than those in refugee camps throughout Africa. Civil unrest in Muslim countries of western Africa is a common fact of life. Victims of wars and persecution from Congo, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Sudan often find themselves without a home and sometimes without a country. Refugees flock to these camps seeking safety. Often instead of shelter and a hot meal, they find disease and violence. However, the Lord has heard the prayers of His children.
There is a deep yearning within the refugees. They watch as their children suffer. Their bellies become bloated by malnutrition. They have no clean water. They don’t have clothes to wear, let alone toys to play with. They are longing for some sort of hope, and this hope is found in religion.
Many come from Muslim backgrounds, but there is something – a deep calling to the deep – yearning for a closer walk with God. Some of these people are converted to Catholicism, Pentecostal, Mormon, and others. But a few get their hands on a Message book. Their lives become forever changed, and the hope they are so desperately seeking becomes a reality.
The following is a letter written to Brother Branham by a refugee of Somalia, who is now in a camp in Swaziland. He is desperately seeking a better understanding of the Bible, so he can bring the Message back to his family.
Dear Brother William,
Greetings to you in the precious Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
We thank you for your answers. As a matter of fact brother, we don’t know English very well. All we know is Arabic language, and our own mother tongue. So we would like to get further education about Christianity, because we were born in Muslim religion, and we want to be Christian. So brother you can understand our problem about the education towards the Christian religion.
So we request you to give us invitation to learn Christian religion, because we are Somali people and Congo people as well as Sudan, and we are in the refugee camp here in Swaziland.
We bring this idea after we recognize that we are orbit (lack of religion), and we want to save our family after we go back to our origin countries. So please and please, save us from the hell of God and let we save our peoples.
Brother all we need is to have the education about the Bible (Holy Bible).
Much brotherly we hope that you will consider our request.
Thank you very much.
Your faithful,
Musaba
