Letters From Prisoners

The prison mailbag is full again. Here are a few excerpts of letters from prisoners.

From a brother and some sisters who visited a prison:

We just went to West Central Pre-Release Center this past Friday night for service. It’s a women’s prison. We had a wonderful time in the Lord. A couple of ladies at the prison would like to get books from VGR individually. A testimony to the ladies that go to the prison with us: There were two different services going on in the prison that night. The guards let the prisoners decide which one they wanted to attend. These female inmates looked through the library window and saw how our sisters were dressed, and came into our service. They told me later that when they saw how our sisters were dressed, they knew that they wanted to be in our service because it was the real thing to them. They got to hear the Voice of God for our day on the CD, and they loved It.

From a Rev/Chaplain over prison ministry:

“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these, my brethren…” is a phrase which brings to mind a teaching that we depend on so much in prison ministry.

Thank you very much for your generous donation of Spanish language Bible study materials, etc… Many of the men here at our facility have a genuine interest in spiritual growth, which not only benefits them here and now, but also is an important factor in their ability to stay out of prison once they are released. Of course, the Eternal benefits are inestimable.

Since we are limited on what we can spend for religious items, the love motivated gifts from organizations like yours make it possible for chaplains to meet the spiritual needs of our “clients.” All too often, it could not be done without the open-heartedness of those who care enough to give. We know our work could not go forward without those who sacrificially give to help those whose circumstances put their futures at great risk. The men of our facility and I are truly thankful for you support and prayers.

Your fellow servant,

From a Rev/Chaplain over prison ministry:

Thank you for your donation of Bible study helps. We have three large meetings of Pentecostal/Full Gospel inmates here every week. I know they will be greatly blessed by the faith messages in these materials. This good Christian teaching will be a blessing to many of the inmates here. We thank you on behalf of the 2,450 inmates.

Kept by His grace and mercy,

Throughout all these years I have sought the truth trying to find the real Jesus. Just over a month ago, the chaplain here at the prison gave me Gordon Lindsay’s 1950 book called, “A Man Sent from God.” I read it and a spark of hope was struck.

I am writing because I need more truth. I’ve doubted so many years; so much unbelief. To this day I question whether I am truly “Born again.” I wonder if I am the seed of Cain or Able? I wonder if I am one of the elect, predestinated or not. For so long I’ve been so broken inside. I want to be free in Jesus. I want my life to bare the fruits of God’s Spirit. If it’s not going to happen I’d rather die than live with a false hope.

I’d never heard of Brother Branham before receiving the first book by Gordon Lindsay. I can receive printed material only. Would you please send me more truth and pray for a break through in my life where God will save me so I know I am born again.

Thank you for your time,

Sincerely

I want to thank you all for sending me the Spoken Word books for the last year and a half. My last book I have left is “William Branham, A Man Sent from God.” I am a believer of Brother Branham. I do believe he is the prophet of our day.

If it is possible, I love to study all of Mr. William Branham’s work. My true desire in life is to be the man God has called me to be in Him, for Him, for His will be done. Just seeing the Halo over Mr. Branham’s head, I know for a fact that is an Angel standing behind him. I’ve been looking for true teachings of the Word of God.
