Dear VGR family,
I was so excited by what happened today, I just wanted to share it. After receiving our missionary CDs yesterday, I asked the Lord last night to lead me and present the opportunity for me to use the CDs. Today (Christmas eve) my family and I we're getting ready to walk out the door to a family Christmas function, when someone knocked on the door. My wife answered the door to our neighbor lady and her daughter, and they said that they're car wouldn't start. I was really excited and nervous on the walk to their car just at the thought of witnessing to them.
We got to the car, popped the hood, tried starting it, and tried jumping it; but the battery was completely dead. After working with it for about 20 minutes, the only option was to get a new battery. I told her that I would run up to Autozone for her. She was surprised by my response and hesitantly said, "Okay, but I can't pay you back until next Monday when the bank is open again." I told her I was happy to help and hurried down to Autozone.
For a little background about the neighbor: She is a single mother in her early forties with two children. She was diagnosed with breast cancer a little more than 9 months ago, and she just finished her chemotherapy a couple months ago. (So she only has about three inches of hair.)
I made it back to her house and started putting in the new battery. She then came back and started to cry while trying to say thank you. I assured her I was very happy to be helping. After, she got her composure back she seriously said, “You sure are making Santa proud right now.” I chuckled a little and said, “Well, I hope I'm making someone proud.” I finished the car and immediately got a witnessing CD. I handed it to her and said, “Julie, it would mean a lot to me if you listened to this.” She held it tight to her heart while I told her, “It's all yours,” I said, “the only thing I ask is that if you don't like it then please give it to someone else or give it back to me. Don't throw it away.” Then she asked, “Well what if I like it. Do I have to pass it on?” I told her, “Oh no. It's yours. You can keep it. It doesn't cost you a thing.” She then looked at it and asked, “What is it?” I then told her that it was a ministry CD about our pastor and his life story. I said, “It's what we believe in, and I believe it will help you too.” She said, “Great!” and excitedly ran back into the house. I hope her family gets as much of a blessing as I did today. God bless.
