It’s said that the first few minutes of your morning sets the tone for the entire day.
Today’s so-called “Productivity Experts” teach that those first few moments in the morning are crucial for setting up the oncoming day to be a successful one. Quoting one, “The first 10 minutes can also set the tone and your attitude for the day — so it’s imperative that you start it off right, with a clean slate.”
These initial moments establish our mindset for the day because they are the first impression of what lies ahead: work, school, house chores, etcetera, all attesting to the old saying, “Either you run the day or the day runs you.”
As Christians, this is where the enemy attacks us first. Tiredness, ill thoughts, busyness, are just a few of the enemy’s tactics to skew our path, trying to get our day started out on the wrong path. But taking advantage of these first few moments is not a new concept by any means. In fact, our Lord knew this secret to be true long before any “expert” taught it. He established this in His own earthly life’s routine. He knew that being about the Father's business started at the beginning of His day.
35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Jesus felt the need to get alone to speak with Father to get His day moving in the right direction. Daily life for Him was busy teaching and performing miracles, and He couldn’t afford to start the day on the wrong foot. Being about the Father’s business meant He was ready at any time to move into action. The Heavenly atmosphere around Him could be attributed to many things, but surely how He started His day was one of those contributing factors.
We hope the following montage of quotes will be a blessing to you, and to add to your own armor as you go to face the enemy.
They are a reminder of who you are. Play them when you do your morning routine, driving to work, or starting the day as the Lord leads you. After your prayer time, when the enemy tries to lie to you, saying, "You are nothing," when he tells you, “It’s not for you, " we hope this will be a reminder, YES, you are His child and His love won't fail.
Like the characters of the Bible and our prophet, God has something for you to do for Him each day. Maybe the way we begin our day will help start us out in the right direction, to be about the Father’s business.
