I love to ride my bike, and the Lord knows it but arthritis pain had gotten so bad in one of my knees that I couldn't even turn the pedals, and I had to put away the bike. For the last five years I had tried many remedies and diets to help the knee, but now it was beyond me.
I went to the doctor, and they did some x-rays and an ultrasound, and she looked at me and said, “It looks really bad, I need to send you to an orthopedic specialist.” When I finally went to the specialist he too ordered some x-rays and then came to the room and said, “Sir you have a bad case of osteoarthritis, lots of swelling and a popliteal cyst behind your knee. The only thing I can do for you is to give you a cortisone shot.” I told him, “I don't want a shot, as I have been warned by many people that it will damage my cartilage, and then I will have to be coming back to you for an artificial knee.” He said, “It can and it might, but you don't have any cartilage left in that knee; you are bone on bone right now, and I'm surprised you can still walk.” He showed me my x-rays and explained everything that was happening in the knee, and then tapping his pen on the desk, said, “OK, are you now ready for a shot?” I said, “No, I don't want a shot; I just can't accept that.” He got his papers together and kind of irritated, said, “When you are ready for the shot, come back, and if you need an artificial knee we can do that also.” I left there upset and didn't know what to do, especially since I had waited six weeks to see him, and now nothing.
As I kept driving it came to me that today was Wednesday prayer night, and it was still fresh in my mind how that God had healed my three-year-old grandson, Malachi, of his knees. Praise the Lord! This is great! The devil has got me cornered, and the only way I can turn to is up. Amen!
I called my daughters and my daughter-in-law, and told them, “Tonight is prayer night, and I want all my grandkids to pray for Grandpa’s knees. I then called the Voice of God prayer line and asked Brother Joseph to join me and my grandkids in bringing Dr. Jesus on the scene!
I locked myself into my room and poured out my soul, and spent a good time cleaning out all the cobwebs of my spiritual life. I felt the Lord telling me, “You don't talk to Me the way you used to talk to Me, you're always so busy.” I knew He was right, I even spent more time riding my bike than I did praying. I told him I was sorry and to please forgive me. I got a quote from the message, “Seed Of Discrepancy” paragraph 156:
Someday you’d have to pack a—a little cane around if that arthritis cripples you up, but it ain’t going to do it. You ain’t, you don’t believe it is, do you? You believe you’re going to be all right? Go on your road, and Jesus Christ makes you well.
I wrapped myself around that quote with all I had, and now after five years of pain, I am free from the devil of arthritis! What a great feeling that is! I told my wife, “Even if I only ride around the block, but to ride with Christ it will be sweet.” I kind of chuckled inside myself and said, “The Lord knew just where to cut me down.” I love Him.
