The Provider

The Lord is not only our Healer and our Saviour, but He is also our Provider. This sister’s testimony shows blessing after blessing as she went through a difficult time financially.

I want to thank the Lord for always supplying my needs. Due to the Coronavirus, I temporarily got laid off from my main source of employment. My boss had requested I wait to look for a new job, but would understand if I had to. I decided to wait as long as I could.

My money was running low, and I had a car insurance bill coming up. I called in and removed things from my policy temporarily, to lower my bill. Unfortunately, I took towing off, because I wasn't driving hardly at all, and figured I didn't need it at the time.

I was heading for a trail head, and my car broke down. I had to get a tow truck, because it kept stalling, and the oil pressure light kept coming on. The oil was good, so the tow truck driver suspected my fuel pump. I ended up spending the money I would have given for car insurance on the tow truck driver, so I went to get money out of the bank for the insurance. My bank is in a store. As I was coming out, I smiled at a woman driving up. I continued to the vehicle, and we started to take off. I told my sister, one of the kids wasn't buckled, so we paused on the other end of the parking lot to buckle her. As we did, the woman I'd smiled at pulled up and said she hoped we wouldn't be offended, but she felt on her heart to give money. She asked if we had a financial need. We hesitated; I felt bad taking it, because I had enough, but she persisted and she said when she saw me walk out she felt drawn to us, and felt on her heart to give me money. I went ahead and took it.

We gave her a card with themessage.com website on it. She was so happy. When I counted the money, it was almost exactly what I owed on car insurance! I had just prayed that week about my financial state and whether I should look for a different job, and it was special to me to see that the Lord cared, and was supplying my needs! We had just done the “Being Led by The Spirit” study hall assignment with the kids the day before. It seemed special how the Lord led her to us.

We ran into a sister and found out “Being Led by the Spirit” was playing on the Voice Radio at that moment! I don't remember if it was that evening or that weekend, but I heard from my boss that I was going to be getting paid even though I couldn't come into work! I was so happy; I knew that the Lord was taking care of me. When my check came in the mail, I decided to get my car towed to a shop for repair. I called my sister for the number of a car shop I've used before. My brother-in-law was home, and said to wait to take it in; that he'd come look at it that evening.

He came, and a line to the distributor was completely disconnected, making it spark. He reconnected it, hoping that would be sufficient. I was able to drive it a little, but when I went to drive it later, it stalled again, and the light came back on. He wasn't able to look at it again until Sunday evening.

I'd heard that my job could start the next week, so there seemed to be a time crunch. I told him, the car shop had told me my distributor would need to be replaced soon, so he started by looking at the distributor. The contacts were corroded, so he scraped off what he could of the corrosion, and it ran well enough to drive it in to a brother’s repair shop in town, where my brother-in-law thought I should take it.

When we got there, the brother and his wife were there. They had just arrived 10 minutes before, not knowing we were coming. There again, it felt like the leading of the Lord. He did notice the distributor needed replacing. He fixed it the next morning. I picked it up that afternoon. That evening, one of my brothers-in-law gave me a Spoken Word book. He said someone had said they'd had me on their heart and had been praying for me, and had given it to him to give to me anonymously with something in it.

When I opened it, there was money - the exact amount I had paid for the car repair. As far as my brother-in-law knew, they knew nothing of the car repair. The book “A Patriarch Abraham” was sure a blessing to read as well. I thank the Lord for His care, and for those he used to help me.
