Only Believe

27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

Jeremiah 32:27

We sing about it, we hear about it, we think about it, but as believers of this Message, it should be no surprise when we see the Lord in action. Is there anything too hard for our Lord Jesus? Whether it is a toothache or life and death, our God is able if we will only believe.

My husband and I were enjoying the game, when a friend of ours yelled at my husband that something was wrong with a man in the crowd and they needed me. I am a registered nurse so I quickly made my way towards a group of people who were gathered around a man.

As I got closer I could see the man was slumped over in his seat, his skin was gray in color, and fluid coming from his mouth. When my husband and I got to him he was unresponsive, cold to touch, and we could barely feel a pulse.

A local doctor and his wife who is a registered nurse also came over to offer assistance. We all quickly laid the man on the ground, on his side, with his legs up to try to insure better blood flow. I had the man's left wrist, my husband was elevating his feet, and he was completely lifeless and cold to the touch.

I searched for a pulse and couldn't find one. I prayed a simple silent prayer that God wouldn't let this man die in front of his family and all the children who were standing nearby. At the same time my husband was praying as well, asking that the Lord would help this man in his time of need.

Within a minute there were as many as five to six medical personal searching for signs of life in this man. After finding none the choice was made by the doctor to start CPR, and he told us to roll the man onto his back. My husband, the doctor’s wife, and I continued to hold the man’s wrist and ankles while the doctor positioned himself and placed his hands on the man’s chest to start compressions. Before the doctor could start his first chest compression, I saw the man take a breath, so I told the doctor who started checking for a pulse in man’s neck. We all suddenly began to feel the man’s body warming up. A heartbeat that was absent before started to slowly beat. His cold lifeless gray body was warming up before our eyes, and we began to feel him come back without CPR.

A man who, based on my medical training and experience, had been dead just minutes before was now sitting up and trying to look around. By God’s amazing grace he allowed this man a second chance, and allowed us all to witness this miracle.

While we waited for the ambulance to arrive my husband and I were giving praise and thanks to God for what he had just done, knowing that God himself had breathed the breath of life back into the man before our very eyes.

When the ambulance arrived, they put the man on the cot and he was sitting straight up and looking around. As I was watching them, I thought back at when Brother Jackson died in the church service and God raised him from the dead. What a mighty God we serve! We are so humbled to have been able to witness such a miracle, and it is our prayer that the others who were witnesses to God’s great works come to know what they saw too.
