Brother Ben

Now, course, all of you are acquainted, to know Brother Ben down here. He just…you know, this man that you can hear above everybody, saying, “Amen.” I’ll tell you a little. I hate to say this on him; his wife sitting there. We all love Ben. And it was before he was married. I was out on the West Coast. And that boy is from southern Indiana.

I was out there on the West Coast, just preaching away, up in the one night, San Fernando Valley, valley, with the Baptist people, big tent full of people. Now, they’re kind of refined people, you know. And I was just preaching away. Directly I heard a squall; black shock of hair, shaking, like—like—like—like a Mexican; two big feet sticking up in the air; his hands like that. I stopped. I said, “Ben, where in the world did you get out here?” There he was.

God bless you, Ben. You no more than just stand up, just stand up, you and your wife. We’d just like for the people to…Brother Ben, that’s who has been making all the “amens” down here in this corner here. God bless you. [Brother Ben Bryant says, “Covet all your prayers. We trust to be going back in the missionary field, ’fore too long, into the mountains, Brother Branham.”—Ed.] Amen. God bless you.

We were listening to a tape this morning, and I heard Brother Ben Bryant shouting and praising the Lord, which reminded me of an experience I had with him many years ago in 1963.

My dad was a Message minister and a friend of Brother Ben Bryant. He and his wife had come to visit mom and dad. I was about 16 at the time, and not serving the Lord.

In those days the telephone was attached to the wall, and we had one in living room and one in bedroom. I was talking on the bedroom phone, and Brother Ben picked up the living room phone to call out.

I said, “I am on the phone." He replied back, “Who is this?” I said again louder, “I am on the phone.” He again said, “Who is this?” I then screamed, “Hang up the phone!”

It is a wonder my dad did not kill me. Brother Ben then asked my dad, “What is wrong with that boy?” Dad told him, “He really needs the Lord.”

A few weeks later my dad got a card from Brother Ben that said, “When I left your house, I could not get your boy off my mind. I've been up in the mountains fasting and praying for him, and Brother Harrell I got the victory.”

So, when you hear Brother Ben shouting and praising the Lord on tape, know for sure that he was not only loud but also gallant and caring. There is now an old man down in Georgia serving the Lord, believing the Message because of God’s Grace and Brother Ben's love and prayers. Also, his prayers went beyond me and brought my girlfriend with me.

I am sure that now he is still screaming and shouting. Thank God for Brother Ben.
